Membership of the association costs 300 SEK per year, but 100 SEK is refunded if you submit part of your hunting licence with completed harvest statistics and attend the association's annual meeting. From 2010 onwards, membership requires prior membership of the Forestry College Student Union. By joining the association, members commit to contributing two days' work per hunter each year, where the tasks are proposed by the board or members, such as building new towers and other activities.
Failure to attend will result in a charge of 600 SEK per missed day of work.
Membership is purchased via Orbi and is available at the following link: Membership - JVF
Pay the Hunting Conservation Association membership fee online (receipt must be shown); see the bank giro number above.
State hunting licence.
Liability insurance (e.g., membership of the Swedish Hunters' Association).
Relevant shooting certificates.
Forestry College Student Union card or receipt.
To take part as a shooter in organised communal hunts, in addition to all necessary certificates and licences, a functioning hunting radio operating at 155 MHz and a cheerful disposition are required.
Membership also grants access to the Sävar hunting shooting range, which is available to association members; the cost of clay targets is, of course, additional. For 2021, the price is 40 SEK per round (Skeet/Trap). Please ensure payment is made correctly when using the shooting ranges and follow the instructions posted there. Membership also entitles you to purchase moose meat after the hunt, either according to the waiting list or, if you were the shooter, you will be given priority. Access to the Sävar shooting range and the opportunity to purchase moose meat is available for an annual fee of 300 SEK for members/supporting members. Supporting members are not required to participate in any days' work or to be members of the Forestry College Student Union.
All JVF members must register for a free membership with Sävar JSK via Cardskipper to access the shooting range. This means JVF members must contact Sävar JSK themselves to receive digital membership cards directly in the
Cardskipper app. Email savarjsk@gmail.com with your first name, last name, personal identity number, email, and hunting team.

An approved shooting certificate is required for all hunting of large game with rifles and for hunting with shotguns. This applies on JVF's land for both individual and communal hunts. All tests must be taken after 1 May of the current calendar year. For example, to hunt in the 2023/24 season, the test may be taken no earlier than 01-05-2023 for it to be valid. During the shooting tests, the shooter must have two witnesses to confirm successful completion and results.
To promote good skills and minimise wounding, an annual shooting test for rifles is conducted. Passing this test is required for hunting large game with rifles on JVF land.
The rifle competence test is carried out on the moose range (80m target). Shooting is performed at a standing and a moving target. Each run begins with the moose figure just outside the marker shelter. The whole figure must be visible, but the nose may be up to five metres in front of the shelter edge. One shot is fired at the standing figure, which then moves with a two-second delay (+/- 1s), providing an opportunity to shoot at the moving moose. A series consists of two runs, one in each direction. The shooting position is standing; allowed aids are a simple shooting stick or strap/waist support. A shooting log must be kept for each series.
The shooting results should be recorded as follows: 51 recorded as 51
5 recorded as 5
4 recorded as 4
3 recorded as 3
hit within target area recorded as T
To pass, results must meet the Swedish Hunters' Association silver moose shooting badge standard: three series with at least 14 points per series and all shots within the target area.
To promote good skills and minimise wounding, an annual shooting test for shotguns is conducted. Passing this test is required for hunting with shotguns on JVF land.
The shotgun competence test is conducted on the Skeet range by shooting a series of six clay targets, split evenly between targets moving away and towards the shooter. The shooter stands at the station nearest the trap and shoots six targets, alternating between targets from the trap and the tower. Two cartridges are allowed per target. Once the test has started, all targets must be shot without interruption.
To pass, at least four out of six targets must be hit. A target is counted as hit if at least one visible fragment breaks off.
As a JVF member, you are entitled to bring guests for a total of two hunting days. It is up to the member whether to bring two guests on one occasion or split the days between two separate guests. Members are fully responsible for their guests and must ensure that guests can present all necessary documents required for hunting on JVF land, including licences, state hunting licence, liability insurance, and guest pass. Guests must have read and understood the current hunting guidelines.
Guest passes (large game/small game) are purchased online via 'Buy hunting licence online' for hunting on Holmen Skog land at a cost of 100 SEK per hunting day. A JVF board member must be contacted when purchasing guest passes.
Moose taken by guests belong to JVF. Small game taken belongs to the guest. Guests have the right to purchase the moose according to the current price list. Any trophies belong to the shooter.
If you wish to purchase a guest pass, you must have read these rules and signed to confirm understanding. This applies to both the JVF member and the guest.
JVF members always have priority for communal hunts. If you wish to bring a guest on a communal hunt, this must be communicated to the hunt leader via email. The same applies if the guest wishes to release a dog during the communal hunt.
If bringing a guest, they must hunt in the same areas booked by the JVF member and on the same land. Separate areas may not be booked.
If any of these rules are broken, the board has the right to decide on suspension from future hunts.
